3.a divine punishment came upon us because in the 12th century we decided to purify the empire? do you really believe that? the empire was turning more and more greek because the empire was loosing regions with none greek population, like egypt and the east coasts of mediterrenean.4.I disagree that we continue any destroying policy. Feel free to reply whenever, dialoque is welcome and interesting in this case.

1.the history of school is ok.2.most of the emperors were not of greek origin, that's true but that doesn't change the fact that the population of southern balkans and west anatolia was either greek or greek speakers. in the northern balkans were the slavic peoples and others, in the east of anatolia, the armenians and others.

The byzantines were legitimate succesor of the roman empire, yes they spoke greece, and in the end of the empire the mainly domination nations were truly greeks, but the city of constantinopol itself was the roman city, and his inhabitans were romans latin even then they spoke greeks, when the constantin the great found the city he moved all magisterial from rome to constantinopol, the most riches patricial family also removed to constantinopol,

The western Europeans wanted to take fore themselves the legitimate Succession of the Roman Empire. Thus the coining of the term Byzantium in the 17nth century by western Historians.Technically the Eastern Roman Empire Byzantium was the sole Successor of "The Roman Empire" even by royal blood lines.

That's true the oficial language was still latin until Arabic invasion and Hercalius reforms of VII cantury AD and catholic church was united untill 1056 AD. even after death of last emperor Constantine XI in 1453 AD the christian people in Greece and Anatolia under Ottoman rule called themselfs Romanoi (Romans)not Hellenes (Greeks)until XIX century.

You should stop reading revisionist history. The Byzantine Empire was centered in the Balkans and Asia Minor, which was inhabited mostly by Greeks or Greek speaking peoples. Most of the Emperors of the Byzantine Empire were perhaps not Born-Again Christians.

Wait wait.. did the Jew guy just called us chauvinists and nationalists? What a joke..And GermanConquistador, it depends on the age that you observe the empire. At its peak, the Byzantine Empire was stronger than even the Western Holy Roman Empire. Now if you observe it at its late years just before it falls, it was crap after 1000 years of fighting barbaric nations just like Rome, it innevitably fell. Its all relevant
