To me, the story of Menuhim is the story of what does one do when one has mastered the literature at age 12. I believe the answer he found was to universalize and spiritualize. More than any other violinist, he appears to be in a trance when he plays (no matter how difficult the passage), on another plane. His interpretations are so pure, without the slightist affectation or nuance. While Heifetz is no doubt one of the greatest, he is also a stylist, earthbound next to Menuhin.

Definitely a PRODIGY! He must of trained somewhere before he came to Earth!

This concert is hard, hard stuff. The double harmonic parts are overwhelmingly demanding. Paganini used to compose things like this only to himself. He must me amazed by the fact that other people can hammer it...

There's a lot that happens when you get on stage. You have to worry about playing about an hour of music (usually) that isn't all melody and then playing with your group and making sure it sounds right. Hitting notes is one thing, making everybody's notes sound together is another. It's like my conductor used to say, "Don't think. If you think you will die. Just do." By reading you don't have to think about "which note is next?" They're not soloists, they're an orchestra.

There's also the factor that the orchestra has to follow the soloist/conductor, and they have to be together. And just in case somebody forgets a note, they have to have the music there so they sound like one instrument's playing, rather than a ton of people.
