Granted there is a large amount of Theatrics and showmanship involved it is basically good natured one upmanship between armed forces branches. although, it may appear "girly" you can be sure they went through basic training like any sailor and if the shit were to go down they would be ready. I think it mainly shows a great amount of dexterity and coordination as a team to show how many can react as one to form a well oiled machine.
