--continuation--Unfortunately, we, from the Western culture, do and think as people want us to do so. In African culture, for example, they do things and think what they think is right. They have true feelings and thoughts, differently from us. It is them who are normal and truthful. We are weird and we lack all that. People in High School drink and smoke even though they aren't allowed to, just to become "popular". We are the weirdos, just think about that.

We have a totally different mentality from her father. You have to put yourself in his place: he was grown in the voodoo tradition, and he acts as he was teached so. For us, going to a good university and graduating is a must, we have to do that so we can achieve our objectives. For them, becoming a voodoo priest, for example, is a goal. To analyze different cultures, you have to think differently. Otherwise you'll find it rather weird or wrong.

there are some substances that can be used to cast the person in a near-death state. the one that was used there i do not know, but i heard that a plant called datura can leave the person in a state like that. it's just a guess, tho
