It was a great performance and a much-deserved win. Forget all the politics people inject into it. He deserved this award for this film.Also, Julia Roberts should not have tried to make it about her - what a goon.

Should've won for both Malcolm X and The Hurricane, The Hurricane snub was just flagrant. Kevin Spacey who's a very talented actor won for American Beauty that was classic Oscar bullshit. Al Pacino won for Scent of a Woman during the malcolm x oscars, I can live with Pacino winning though it was long overdue as well. Russell Crowe actually should've gotten this award for A Beautiful Mind.The Oscars are just sometimes way off they get the people right, but the timing tends to be off.
