To pray a prayer and believe is one thing. To repent, turn from sin and forsake all that you have to follow Christ is another. For even demons believe the Christ existed and died. It is being born again through faith in Christ THEN walking in absolute surrender to God for the remainder of your days. 'putting to death the lusts of the flesh by the Spirit' as Paul says in romans 7 i think it is. If you live to the flesh you will die. Obedience and sanctification along with faith and love.

IMO...it is fruitless to debate the papacy and sola scriptura with Catholics. The fact that the True saving gospel of Jesus Christ has been so incredibly distorted is enough to never trust the Roman Catholic Church; thus, making any argument about the papacy irrelevant. Also, any self-professed "Christian" group that attempts to gain converts by first creating doubt about the Bible's infallibility and authority...is nothing more than more than a cult. And that's about the measure of it.

The thing to do is realize that everyone who has ever lived has died. Grow up.

thanks for that quick reply :)um,but why did these people almost seem like they had to fight for their salvation? The guy said he just 'understood'..I understand too.Where do I stand?what does it mean to 'trust' Christ?I mean whatelse would I trust, its absurd to me.

Sure, emotion does not validate your salvation. People say that it does, but they are wrong. The fact is that if you believe in Christ, and trust in him, you are saved. An emotional experience is no where mentioned as a prerequisite in Scripture.

hey um,could you answer a question of mine?I accepted Christ when I was about 10,with the 'prayer'.I'm not sure if I meant it,I was a kid I guess.I keep on doubting sometimes..and so I try and get saved again and again, but then I stopped well cause I believe in Christ and thats all that matters right?Like none of my experiences are like these people..why did they have to ask like 10times b4 they got saved? It scares me,cause I don't have much emotion.

look buddy you are agruing in circles that fact is the pope is not a biblical term it was adopted later by the roman catholic church. along with the prayer to mary and to saints. you guy's add new doctrines all the time but the FACT IS WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE THRU FAITH NOT OF OURSELVES IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD NOT OF CATHOLIC CHURCH. I WILL NOT CONTINUE TO ARGUE WITH YOU ABOUT PETER

CANON IX.-If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema. (Council of Trent - Session the Sixth)Why not be courageous enough to actually hold to what your "church" professes to hold. According to it, I'm not a brother.
LaneCh (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
PS. Somewhere in here, you referred to me as "brother." You are either ignorant of what your "church" believes or do not hold to what your "church" holds to willfully:

"How can you sit with your conscience tonight?"I don't know! I mean your ad hominem and circular argumentation is certainly enough to keep me up from my normal sleep time of 10:30pm to the time I'll probably fall asleep tonight at 10:32pm! Please. I've had atheists be less circular in their argumentation and actually refrain from using ad homs to get their point across. That actually doesn't bode well for your position btw, regardless of what Home Sweet Rome tells you. :) Enjoy your cookies.
