Classic clip! I wonder if anybody on YouTube has posted the priceless moment on Joker! Joker! Joker! (The kids version of TJW) where a youngster says he wants to be a game show host when he grows up which prompts Barry to proffer "You mean like me?", but the kid goes "No, like Bob Barker." completely throwing Barry off-kilter.

A few years ago, I found out that Jack Barry was related to my father's side of the family - but that family didn't acknowledge him after the quiz show scandals broke out. (They thought his alleged actions were crooked and unethical.) He somewhat resembles my brother and dad, though, so there must be something here. Part of Jack Barry's family was Austrian, and my family came from that part of the world.

I wouldn't be surprised if most, if not all, of these kids are still alive. They are in all likelihood the grandparents of today's generation of kids - if they didn't postpone parenthood until they were in their 30s or 40s, which would have been likely given that this generation of girls was the first to pursue careers outside the home on a large scale.

3M sponsored Juvenile Jury, a lively program for kids who grew up watching Jack Barry intervening with the children in a classic session of jury duty involving some of the many complex problems they face with every day.

This show is hilarious. Scotch cellophane tape was around since the 30's. It got yellow with age, and you see that in some old books fixed with Scotch cellophane tape. The Scotch Magic tape was invented in 1961. It was "frosty on the roll and invisible on the job". It did not yellow as much.

Wow, they are REALLY pushing that Scotch tape!!
simatrait (February 26, 2008 at 11:22 pm)
how could this be in 1954 if scotch tape wasnt made until 1961?
