Figure Construction Drawing
thedailydrawing.comJust drawing some rough figures out of circles, cylinders and blocks. The "bullet stopping guy" was constructed with the stick-figure method, which I'm no good at, resulting in an flat-feeling figure. Also notice the two-block torso construction. Alot of the stiffness in poses can be the result of not bending the two torso peices and instead treading it like one "block."For more on how to construct figures how of basic shapes I recommend the following books: "Drawing comics the marvel way" and "Figure drawing for all it's worth by Andrew Loomis.

Cool! I'm guessing DC and comics in general use the wooden man to start with? They seem more detailed in my memory (DC vs Marvel). I started thinking about all the Marvel guys with only this basic stuff; ie no cape, etc. Spidey, Surfer, DD, Iceman, Torch.

See I had art class at 5, drew further on till highschool took a college class yet my art still lacks something. Looks like a 14 year old did it. I even studied the skeleton, but then my characters look stiff and can't get them in poses. Should I buy a little skeleton? I have a pose person? XD Nice work. Did this book reall help?
