you don't seem to get it.. the children weren't SENT they were TAKEN. Now adays that would be called Kidnapping. lots of the children never returned home. Not cause they ran off, cause they were killed by the abusers, then the families were lied to, told they died from sickness or ran off an couldn't be found.
