I don't know but I've seen these things at the track. They don't accelerate that fast. Top fuel run quicker times & higher top speed in the 1/4 mile.

that was insane!

example. jet puts out say 3000lbs of thust. wt of vehicle = 3000 ( for argument sake) there for, the first say 0-200mph, the jet is accelerating at 1g. meanwhile, the same 8000hp, if you got traction would eccelerate a 3000lb vehicle well over 1 g. BUT, as the velocity gets higher and you lengthen the gears, you give the advantage over to the jet, becuase the amount of acceleration is still the same cuase you dont loose it with gearing. which is why a jet = top speed not acceleration

hp is based on velocity. A jet engine puts out thrust. Which at 500mph would be considered 8000hp, but at a launch would only calculate to( well less than 8000hp), for a combustion motor puts power output equal to a 1/x^2 function, so the lower the velocity the shorter gearing you have the more wheel tq= more acceleration. therefor a jet engine puts out the same thrust the whole time, and depending on velocity, that is where the 8000hp comes from. which is why a motor with accelerate faster

i dont think there is such a measurement.. maybe newton meters? but that measures torque.. thrust is just measured in pounds.
