Define contradictory, please. Not what a dictionary says but what you say.

If I´ve understood what you´re trying to say, you´re really a very contradictory person. Cheers.

No.I don't care how Visconte or Mann views through this novel and movie. I am just voicing my view. If you don't like mine and feel nothing to learn, it is OK, too.

Wrong. This is just Visconti/Mann´s view of things, just another theory, not an universal truth whatsoever. Duchamp (assuming you know who is he) desconstructed this "entity", the sacred nature of a work of art and its supposed "beauty" almost a century ago. He would have painted a black mustache in Tadzio´s face, as he has already done with Monalisa. In doing so he was not being offensive - he was questioning the establishment in art.

Yes He represents Bacon, Man-Ray, Gogh, Mahler, Mozart, Mann, everything what is art. He is the perfect symbol of any kind of art. Ashenbach had his theory what is art but his beliefe failed. He did a lot of effort to create a beauty. But he couldn't. Then he appeared. He is a complete beauty. He is not trying to create beauty at all. He is beautiful only by its existance. That's the entity of Art.Thar's what Achenbach realized that he was wrong and then he leaves this world. That's why.

According to you, he´s a "symbol of art", and Bacon is "art itself", but the boy´s beauty doesn´t represent Bacon IN ANY MEANS. Or Man-Ray, or even Van Gogh. Who told you art and beauty always concide? Very limited and autocratic vision of aret really.

I prefer to see Tadzio as a beauty far from any sexuality. Not knowing perhaps, how perfect he is,a mixture between boy, girl and young man.Innocent.The film takes always my breathe away.Mahlers divine music, the tragic person that gives Bogarde.I Could die with this film.Don't want to see it so bad,in the way that ist only homosexual. The prof.adores Tadzio,as an immagine of pure beauty.A phantom.I don't want to see it all only bad.I want to keep something also innocent in this cold world.

It is not an object. It is a symbol.Francis Bacon's terrible paintings are not symbols of anything. They are just art.I studied art whole my life and had enough to listen to poor arguments. He is a symbol of arts. not art himself.

Poor boy...then you´re reducing him to a mere object? Poor you too. By the way, who´s told you I was talking about art? I´ve only stated that he ISN´T attractive to me at all, and that´s it. Don´t oversimplify something so complex like aesthetics and beauty with a cheap one-eyed road like yours. Francis Bacon´s terrible paintings are "simbols of art" too. Go to the museums or study history of art.
