Cuba after Castro

Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba on December 31, 1959. Expropriation, nationalization of the industry and the departure of more than two and a half million Cubans followed. But also the advancement of health care and education, and a continuing struggle to turn Cuba into an ideal communist state. In Miami the great countdown has begun. The Cubans who have fled the socialist experiment over the past 45 years have faith again. The momentum is there, or at least close, so the exiles in Miami hope. They'll soon be able to take possession of Cuba again and start reconstruction, from communist utopia to Caribbean investment paradise. In Miami, where 1.2 million Cuban exiles live, Cuban organizations, companies and people are ready for the post-Castro era. This documentary takes stock of the scenarios people in Miami envision for Cuba after Castro and of thepossible consequences for the island and its inhabitants.Director: Gijs Meyer Swantee, Doke RomeijnProducer: Frank Wiering

Have you actually been to Miami and to Cuba? Did you spend years doing actual ethnography of both areas? Or did you just formulate those opinion because you read an article on the Internet? Most likely the latter which demonstrates why you lack the knowledge to discuss about Cuba.

I agree that it isn't a total blockade. Your're right, but in reality, the shortage of things in Cuba is artificial. the government has the means to provide the people with anything they want but it chooses not to provide it to them.A population that is worried about what its gonna eat tomorrow isn't worried abut revolting. Taking away the embargo will take away their excuse, for why everything in Cuba is lacking and they'll have to get to work... or risk revolution.

No one said it was a total blockade. None the less, the trade whit Europa can in no way replace the lost trade whit the most important economy close by. And the US government tries to spread the blockade, for example, a danish company, selling hospital and health equipment to Cuba, was bought by a US company and now they are not allowed to sell to Cuba any more, potential costing the lives of babies!

Cubas future lies in the continuing of the socialist revolution and the full development of true workers and peasant democracy! Viva Cuba!

These so called "gentlemens" in Miami has nothing to grant to Cuba. Thugs, mafia leaders, gangsters, terrorist, child murderess (by spreading poison in Cuban wells), imperialist and sympathizers for the Batista dictatorship. They will newer return! A revolution can not win if their is no popular support! Castro had support and still haves, even though the wrongs that exist, the Miami ex-cuban mafias have none.

If you left Cuba because of the grass being green elsewhere, then I think you are not a real cuban. Stay wherever you are, and the real cubans will handle their own affairs.
