once they reach a high enough level no one dares use hands in TKD tournements. Legs have a much longer range but hands are traditionally more accurate, but at that point everyone's kicks are so tuned that they are just as accurate as their hands. Trying to throw a punch will get you knocked out by kick to the head before you can get close enough, trying to block a kick with your hand will give you a broken hand.

taekkyeon and taekwondo are slightly different, taekwondo is taekkyeon mixed with a little karate and other things, different tenents etc.

Korea civilzed Japan during BaekJe period. and the early 21 century, Japan just showed how brutal a country can be like barbarians. READ HISTORY BOOK before comment. Taekwondo started even earlier than 600 B.C.
