The reason you like metal is because it is the antithesis of the music you were brought up with. It's beyond stereotype that rich or middle class kids like subversive music that their parents would hate, as they are deliberately and subconsciously being rebellious. That's why you like metal, not because it's any good. It's also why you are disagreeing with me today, just for diagreement sake. You think it makes you cool and 'street,' but you're probably in reality an innocent little mummy's boy.

I disagree. My mother's a concert piano player so I grew up listening to Beethoven, but I still appreciate a wide variety of music, including metal. And I do prefer fun, energetic bands like Iron Maiden or Helloween over many "serious", very respected bands. But this is subjective, for example I'm biased against progressive rock which I find pretentious, and essentially as kitschy as metal often is.

That's like saying Britain is great because it has the highest number of teen pregnancies. It's not something I would be particularly proud of. There's not enough room to list truly great bands on here. However, if you are interested go to the Rate Your Music website and look for the user; Unlimitedfuturecolour. There you will find reviews and a list of my favourite bands. I assume you're referring to Comfortably Numb. Anyway, enough now, your blocking up my inbox. Keep listening.

dude sorry, but great britan got all the top list of the best metal bandevery band that plays metal and are on the top list comes from usa, and btw, metal is my fav genre, but i like all in rock, exept emo, but since you know that MUCH, tell me a good band. lolpink floyd have the best song and best solo by the way....

Yes, they won the best BRITISH METAL band. Not THE best band in the world ever.Britain doesn't have that many great metal bands anyway. Metal as a genre is for people who don't know music. I've known people that were into metal and then when introduced to other types of music were completely blown away. All mainstream award ceremonies only give awards to bands that sell - it's all corporate. An unknown but brilliant avant garde band would not be good for marketing and TV ratings.

Again, I'll put your post into perspective. I've been writing about music for 15 years & I have around 1400 'classic' CDs. Yet, I don't have one Kiss, Bryan Adams, Iron Maiden, Rush, Van Halen, Metalica, CD. Why is that I wonder? Because they are shite and only people who have limited knowledge of music like them. I knew a guy at university who was into Rush, Van Halen, Gary Moore. Then I educated him to proper music & he didn't listen to shit like 'jump' ever again - he gave them to charity.

The Beatles are significant because they were new and subversive for their time, in the same way that Elvis was in the 50s/60s. The Beatles wrote good catchy mainstream tunes, but in today's terms they were pretty lightwieght & unsophisitcated. Listen to The Kinks, they were really good, with far more intelligent lyrics than The Beatles. There are many 'pop' bands with long legacies - The Doors, Pink Floyd, Kinks, Love, Steely Dan. Beatles get acclaim as they were the first to do pop so well

about that girl i understand, but almost every band i like is one of the best for all, time, iron maiden won the best british metal band award, and all the metal band wich is at the top list actually come from great britian, and when you have been into rock for like 10 years, you kinda know somethin :Pand there is a reason for that bryan adams are a legend..., but anyway, i dont care what ppl say. it's not my fault that i am just 15, was it up to me i had been born in the 80's or 70's =)
