Agreed. And it is very obviously a command module at the top. Furthermore, why would there be a crew gantry attached to an unmanned launch.Scandalous

There is no heat shield, since it never needed to survive reentry. What you see during launch is just some ice falling off the rocket.

The review board found both a design flaw and project management errors in not finding it.

skylab was a good station.but nasa underestimated the need of a space station.they emphasized the shuttle more.
