I guess you know little about Miss Alonso. She is not only a member of a Communist Party in Cuba, but a member of the highest rank in the party. She is very outspoken about her participation as a Communist member & even signs documents in support to death penalty for dissidents and people trying to fight the regime. Sorry, you can't compare her with Miss Fonteyn. She is a remarkable artist, a genius, one of the greatest ballerinas of all time, maybe among the 3 best ever& politically wrong.

Politeama. Alicia is a ballerina, not a politician. Are you suggesting that Margot Fonteyn was responsble for the bombing of Dresden because she was English, or that Galina Ulanova was responsible for the gulags or Chernobyl as she was a Soviet, or that Maria Tallchief was responsible for the Hiroshima and Nagasaki or even the My Lai massacre, just because she was American? Not is Alicia responsible for any so called crimes that Cuba's enemies may dream up.

Why do you assume that I do not know enough to make that statement about this remarkable artist? Apparently you are the one who doesn't know about Miss Alonso. I wouldn't dare to say such a thing if I had no knowledge of her. Though, just to be on the side of an evil man, praising him, taking his side for 50 years, a tyrant who has murdered a nation, isn't that enough? No wonder her colleagues at Ballet Theatre called her "the Black Cobra".

Darling, we actually speak spanish, but also english, french, italian, portuguese, etc, and this is called culture. Alicia Alonso is a cuban dancer and one of the most important ballet dancers of the entire world. It is not weird that there are some cubans here remembering or paying homage to this great artist. We will stop speaking spanish when you show some respect and learn another language. It's nice the effort! Try it!
