I don't know about portoguesse dancers in general, but I agree that this is very stiff. They have everything choreographed and they perform with some kind of force implied. I've danced with girls who do that kind of dancing and they can't follow. They will rip my arm off instead...

And yeah, it doesn't look good at all.

That is a needlessly harsh opinion. They do some things well, others not. It is one interpretation of merengue. "real raw pure merengue, is almost x rated" = a stylistic opinion, not a statement of some kind of law.

no, this is not merengue, it's an attempt to ballroom dance - which wasn't very good, sorry. they both need lessons, they are so stiff, and there is no passion, no soul in it. all these dancers on this show are amateurs, but portugal is not known for great dancers. please guys, it's just a little observation, so, take it easy. if you want to watch real great ballroom dance by regular people (not professonal dancers), watch "dancing with the stars".real raw pure merengue, is almost x rated.:)
