My parents told me about how they saw him back in Los Angeles and that they paid $5 afterwords to hang out and talk with Harry, and everyone did. Everyone discussed the issues of the day and how things were changing good, bad, and the other. The money went to feeding the homeless directly in that community. A TRUE AMERICAN!

In January of 1976 Harry Chapin came to Kansas State University in concert. It was so cold and icy we all thought the concert would be cancelled, but not with this consumate musician and professional. Harry showed up, but his band was snowed in in Kansas City. It was one of the most enjoyable evenings of my young life. I have never forgotten the spirit in that auditorium that night. I got the very real sense that this man was enjoying the concert as much, if not more, than his audience.

A great song writer and poet! He died too soon like all the greats!

John - the guy singing falsetto in the song is his brother, Tommy Chapin, the cello player. - Don

I couldn't agree more with your comment about the song, the singer, and Heaven. Thanks Capt.
