'a tenth as cool' ... as a man who wore a frock in a video, a man who did an appalling covers album, a man who had a fan club named 'The Intense Emotion Circle' ... well we all have our apirations but if that's yours what can I say ??

Argument...the following ;)You may wish you were a tenth as cool as him (and I wish I'd sing the tenth he can still sing), But in 2003 K.R. was only the fiftieth of WHAT he was, and that's what I regret, even though I would never ever think of blaming him for not being perfect. Nevertheless, I still like him better than his... clone. :D

I won't argue with that but... argue anyway. ;)Love forgives everything, I know (and I do love K.R. too), but we have to face reality, haven't we?Of course HE IS Mr Kevin Rowland, and you can play with the words (and all their more or less affective meanings) but... I can play too. The title of the DVD is "It was like this" and unfortunately, I'm sorry to say... no, it was not like this back in the 80's when I used to go and see him on stage.

no, for what he IS - he is Mr Kevin Rowland, and yu can't argue with that. I wish I was a tenth as cool as him

Why is it 'obvious' that I missed this? assumption on your part I fear .. Sadly I am only too familiar with the 'cross dresser' image, in fact I nearly crashed my car driving through Leeds when I saw a HUGE billboard of Kevin in his scanties ... Kev was obviously unwell, but the people around him should have spared him this self inflicted humiliation

The record is a spirited selection of covers, songs which Rowland claims helped him through the dark days. It is art as therapy, which doesn't always amount to good (or easy) listening, especially when the therapy sounds to have only recently begun. Particularly disturbing and disruptive is Rowland's tendency to change the lyrics to suit his 'healing' view of the world. My Beauty allegedly sold less than 500 copies.

Kevin Rowland is an incredibly brave man. After years of drug abuse, poverty, and a career in the dustcan, "My Beauty" was supposed to have represented a triumphant return to the music business. Unfortunately, due to his sartorial choice of the moment it turned into a regrettable laughing-stock.

Well said zzutak, however you obviously missed the rather sad photo shoot Kevin Rowland did a while back strutting around in unflattering lady's underwear. if it WAS tongue- in -cheek i certainly didnt get it!

Well said Chelsea, it was even worse 'live' .. Rowland looked bored by the whole thing, Williams with his club singer warbling and knock kneed 'dancing' was wince inducing and Talbot was plain ignorant berating the audience more than once with shouts of 'ee bah gum' (alluding to the fact he was in Yorkshire I assume)Rowland's 'My Beauty' fiasco and this half hearted evening permanently blighted my opinion of a band/man I held in some esteem
