It's mostly to see where your at in the grande scheme of things man. Theres no magic in the cloth as my instructor sais, it's all in your mind, and body. I study Traditional Tae kwon do, and Karate also, and I can tell you there are some individuals I train with who would not be this careless in a real fight, myself included =) You have to learn to adapt to what is placed before you, Ie someone shooting for your legs, etc. The main thing to focus on is survival, and protecting yourself.
