14.6 2.2L Chevy Cobalt + Nitrous EXPLOSION!
March 4th, 2007...14.6 @95mph run in a 2.2L Cobalt, then on the 3rd run of the day, a faulty window switch lead to a fuel puddling issue which caused a nitrous backfire and ended the race day for me.

It's a bit sarcastic to have the song "On the road again" as background music, don't you think?

Plastic has several desirable properties and for everyday consumer driving it works fine. (I remember hearing many of these complaints when car makers starting using more aluminum from cast iron in the late 70's)Car designing is a complicated exercise in making compromises, especially today with the myriad of regulations and a lawsuit prone society.Anyway; If you're going to increase the performance of the engine it's probably something that needs to be upgraded from straight stock.

Well if you race BOTI and the other major races, I'm sure we'll meet sometime.

i would, 04 wrx wagon/sti swap, running 2 gtr 35s, had the engine built to handle it... not done yet though, still need new down pipe and and rally suspention.

WHY DO THEY MAKE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD PLASTIC?!?!? The engine gets very, very hot! Couple of buddies of mine were working on a focus that has an "check engine" light-I dont remember the code but it involved an EGR code. There was a hole in the Intake Manifold. Even if you happen to replace it your ganna have the same problem anyway. Same thing on an oldmobile. V6. but this time there was coolant in the intake manifold. Some how they designed so the coolant passes thru the manifold. HOT It melts!

Plastic intakes have less heat soak. Naturally aspirated, it's better for power. It's just not good for nitrous. A lot of people in here are bitching about things they don't know anything about.
