Tie the 'Pratt' (aka 'Shelby') knot
The "Pratt" is related to the "Nicky" and provides an excellent compact, medium sized symmetric knot. The "Pratt" is a very practical knot which can be used with most any tie.As you can see, the tie is inverted (the seam shows) as you start. This saves us one loop. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror.-

afferrer, you do realize that all tie knots are SUPPOSED to have the dimple. When you see someone wearing a tie with no dimple, you know he just graduated from college.

thanks, I know how to tie one now!I'm playing the role of an Anonymous Townsfolk Husband/dad in the play, but I'm a girl, so this really helped me. XD

i thought that too, but apparently the windsors are more symmetrical, the four-in-hand is asymmetrical, and this doesn't seem like it looks so clean haha

You can get rid of the dimple under the knot with proper "fiddling" which creates a really sweet looking tie. This is By far my favorite knot and I think the four in hand has got to go.
