"turned out gay" - That sums it all up for me. This isn't trying to be artsy, it just is what it is. When you call a film gay, and that film isn't homosexual pornography, I tend to switch off because you clearly don't really know what you are talking about. Opinions are opinions, I can understand why you would think it was boring, fair enough, but when you call it gay, then it's just stupid.

Like many others, I believe this is one of the best opening scenes in film, period. The entire film is made up of wonderful shots, but the opening stands above the rest and is the highlight of the film for many.
