This is.. me. (transcript included)
Dipping my toe into the vlogging world for the first time, introducing myself.Transcript:I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Shannon, in my first vlog. I saw vlogs made by other deaf people and became fascinated by it. I went out and got a camcorder, hooked it all up to my computer!I will talk a bit about my background:I grew up in a hearing family- I am the only deaf person. I have always been mainstreamed- I have never been in an institution for the deaf. I was born in Edmonton, and I went to a hearing school there until I was 8 years old. I moved to Calgary, continuing to be mainstreamed until I graduated with my deaf/hearing peers in grade 12.Afterwards, for a year, I put college on hold because I didn't know what I wanted to do. I went to work at Fortress, a ski hill not far from Canmore, in Kananaskis County about an hour and half drive from Calgary. It was a great experience! I got to ski all the time, I met people from around the world, as far as Japan, Australia and England. Fortress's name was gold. After working there for a season, I was left wondering what to do next. I became interested in working with cars, repairing and painting them- so I decided to enroll at SAIT, located right across ACAD- Southern Alberta Institution of Technology for Autobody. I completed my course and worked at a high end shop that dealt with high end cars like mercedes, lamboghinis, ferraris, etc. After getting my fill, I transferred to my current college, ACAD- Alberta College of Art and Design, across from SAIT. I'm starting my second year in Design, a four year degree program. It covers advertising, publishing, graphic design for websites, broadcasting, and so on.I expect to graduate around 2009, 2010. That sums up my educational background. Now, my hobbies are, of course, I've just added vlogging to the list!Camping, hiking in the mountains, biking, partying, of course, I gotta party all the time! Skiing in the winter, and photography, oh, gosh, I love it! I recently bought a DSLR back in March and since then, I've fallen in love with it. What else.. of course, I paint, I do murals using paint/airbrushing on huge walls, I enjoy doing that. I also draw, sculpt, I enjoy anything that has something to do with art. I also love reading books, I have my nose in books all the time, I'm a proclaimed bookworm! I read mainly fantasy books, with elves, dragons, wizards, and magic. What else, hmm, I enjoy meeting new people, particularly deaf people. I plan on going to Galladuet for Rockfest, in April. I am very excited about my upcoming trip, I've been looking forward to it. That's about it, to sum everything up for my background. For the future, if I post my opinion in a vlog as a response somewhere else, you can backtrack to my first vlog. You can find out more about me and my background to better understand why I said that as a opinionated response in a vlog. I don't want to repeat my background in other vlogs, I will let you know where to find this information and continue with my response. What else... this all sums up, I present this to you as my first vlog. Thank you for watching me, I will continue vlogging. Keep coming back, it was great meeting you finally, I hope to make new friends doing this.Have a great night, thank you, I'm Shannon, out for the night. Take care!

Hi Zoee, at first when I started vlogging, it was incredibly awkward for me. Later on with some practice, I've regained some of my usual demeanor :)You know, I've been thinking a lot about the relationship between written english and ASL, so I might be vlogging about that soon. Were you mainstreamed your entire life?
