then later the marines were called continental marines which were formed by the elite of the country, the continental congress, the governing body of the US. Also the continental marines initially was formed to help the rebellion against britain (the revolutionary war). Most of the recruiting was done in Philadelphia, and a number of the seamen were blacks. Before you spat nonsense, pick up a book and educate yourself. This country was founded on tyranny, genocide and greed. Now thats true.

you forgot simple minded. Also the marine corps was not founded by so called country folk. Very little people actually lived in the "country" around that time (1700's), the majority of our country's population lived in the colonies, where they could work and make a living and not living in fear of the native americans. The roots of the marines goes back to sir william gooch pre-revolution, sir william was a typical tyrant who was for moving the native americans off their homeland. read a book
