Robin told me that he composed it as a 5 bar "obstacle course". Hence the title Pentacourse.4/4, 11/8, 4/4, 5/8, 4/4You can obviously count it in a number of different ways but the bass line falls in place nicely with his format.

I've played this tune before... it's a ton of composite sigs, though when I play it I do it the way prog rockers do, and feel the quarter as long as the phrase will allow. Thinking in terms of all those sigs is useful, but my phrasing opened right up when I saw it as blocks of with periodic hiccoughs

I counted 4/8 10/8 5/8 4/8 4/8 4/8 9/8. It might be wrong but I know it works.

your right... the ultimate win

4/4|5/4|5/4|11/8 in that order but because the drummer is delineating the melody it makes him sorta fall on the upbeat before reaching(?) or beginning the bar and that tends to throw you off but if you just count by playing alternating eigth notes with your hands, the above meter should work. Disclaimer: for those that hate for no apparent reason I tell you now I'm not an authority in this and I may be wrong.

I put Robin's videos up on youtube. I asked him about your question and he said that he plays the low F in 6th simply because he tries not to be dependent on the trigger, all the time. He uses the trigger for F most of the time, however.
