they're just playing to a synth track that has vocal harmonies on it. it isn't 100% live, per se, but 75% of bands play to some sort of click track or backing track. if not, they'd have to have an orchestra and vocal backs.

it's not lip synced, it's just FLV don't syncronizes good the video.
