That all sounds very nice.. but in the reality of the issue here do you think it is *civilized* for an abortionist to dismember and remove a living baby at up to 24 weeks gestation?

I think it is civilized to allow women to be the ultimate deciders for situations which most closely and dramatically affect them. I don't consider your bank robber analogy to be accurate, because the woman you recieved the abortion is much more involved. I find the hitman situation to be comparable: Would you settle for a suspended 5 year sentence for a hitman who ordered the murder of a human being, but allow a life sentence for the man who was hired?

Well e.g. in the case of a bank robbery that involved a fatal shooting,I think the person who pulled the trigger would probably get a stiffer sentence than one of his unarmed accomplices? Re "because I don't want it to become illegal." Do you regard it then as civilized behaviour?

I understand your position, but I'm questioning why you feel that why. Why do you give the doctors who perform abortions a sentence that is more strict than the women you sought out the abortion?I don't have an opinion about the legalities of illegal abortion, because I don't want it to become illegal.

I was only refering to the Bible. People need to stop using the Bible for anti-abortion. Any modern reason is fine. I just sick of the Bible being used for everything.

"Its much less than murder actually" Are you refering to Biblical times or the present day? Please keep in mind here that,at the time the Bible was written,knowledge of science and biology was rather limited.Even now many people come on to these message boards and ignorantly declare that a fetus is just a "blob of cells"...so maybe things haven`t actually moved on too much?!
