As promised I looked at the footage frame by frame. The starboard view is several seconds after the 4 raptors FTL from Pegasus. There could have been other raptors departing.Clearly the air wing of Pegasus was severely depleted. I was sad to see her go. I was happy play in a virtual Mercury class ship. One last thing though is that Pegasus remained behind critical minutes after Galactica jumped defending the escape from New Caprica.

the starboard forward launch/landing bays are only visable for a matter of mere seconds. However the after launching/landing bays are visable for a much longer period and no Birds can be seen leaving them

I don't think its so easy to know, I think the writers did a great job of thinking inside the box. As the later Razor episode shows, the sets were not destroyed, merely torn down. I will watch that 30 seconds of HDTV again and look at the starboard bay. That being said, Pegasus took a lot of punishment in other battle scenes without FTL going off line. To assume the cylons got it is a safe assumption, but I've not seen anything to confirm that.

I love the scene when lee meets his father back on Galactica.Adama: You disobayed your orders.Lee: You know me, never could read your handwriting

the starboard launch bay was clearly visable in the ramming scene and no rapters where launched from either of the starboard launch bays.Only the forward launch bay on the port side was used for launching the EVAC rapters. Also I would presume that the cylons targeted the FTL drive on Peggy first to disable her escape options (not that Lee was going to do it anyway)

Good points but:Pegasus had 4 launch bays that could have been sending up raptors, so the crew size argument can not be confirmed as it was viewed only from one perspective. So I won't agree with you on the crew count.I just watched the episode again last night in HDTV and wonder why Pegasus did not try a jump and sting strategy. Perhaps her FTL was knocked out, perhaps it was simply poor attention to detail by the writers. Sad loss, so much potential lost. Thinking inside the box.

True, but Lee knew that his father was on a suicide run (note afterwards he gets round disobaying the order by saying he couldnt read the handwritting). If you notice Pegasus launched no birds into the air for self defence as they where all with the fleet as where the rapters. At the very end the Pegasus only launches four rapters. as the rapter can take two pilots plus 8 passengers, it can be determined that Pegasus had a maximum crew of 40 people in her last mission.

Well, Adama knew he could hold off two basestars long enough for the civilian ships to jump. Things went down hill when another two jumped in and the Galactica had lost their jump drives. It was always a tough fight, but it turned hopeless when it came 4 on 1. Until the Pegasus rocked up.

I didnt like seeing the Pegasus go.But still what a way to go IN A FINAL BLAZ OF GLORY WITH GUNS BLAZING!

According to RDM, the Pegasus would have been way to damaged make the journey to Earth.
