Well wht he ment was, his movie suck you in to a point you forget the scary moment the romantic moments and basically moments in his film that you forget because the plot pull you in...the inturn would make you want to watch it till the end. Spielberg has many recuring themse, world war two is one, but he's almost like Kubrick in the way he chooses the storys he likes to tell, many differant genres and he doesn't dislike Jack Nickolson he just said he thinks he went over the top that's all.

are you offended or something? he said you cant turn off any of his movies before they're over, i disagreed. theres really no need to get defensive about it

ok.. then maybe you shouldn't put it on at all?.. just a thought.

Maybe he just doesn't like Jack Nicholson, some personal thing........

I've watched a lot of his films and will be watching more soon. What I meant was, everytime i watch one of his films his camera movements are distracting and remind me he directed it by being totally un-connected to the narrative. I admit he has a style and so far the only time his tyle has worked was in 1941 because it was chaotic and over the top in general. That's what I think of his style, personally. How do you explain it? ( glad you didn't call me a douche, thanks)

That may be true and obviously you know what you're talking about film wise. That is why i didn't ask you, I addressed his general fans. I just don't understand why his is rated so high,

and he most certainly is an auteur, with many recurring themes that he's gone over obsessively, no matter what genre he's working in. whether that's family, childhood, divorce, or themes of better understanding/ communication between disparate people/races/religions/beings or whatever (ie. close encounters/ munich/ amistad), to mention but a few. he has a point of view (quite a progressive one), whether you like it or not, something that the three nonentities previously mentioned don't possess.

you're not seriously questioning spielberg's compositional skills are you? the guy knows film language instinstinctively, almost preternaturally, whether or not you think his themes/content are shallow, sentimental or whatever the usual hammering he gets from his detractors is.
