sweet plane. i took the da40 xl for a cross country and it was amazing. anyone else notice that in the diamonds you get a 'one arm' sun tan? hahah

The DA40s fly extremely well. They are very smooth and responsive and the visability is fantastic. The light wing loading can make it a bit bumpy in turbulance and it can be a furnace on the ground in the summertime but its still a great airplane.

I usually keep flaps down until 400ft AGL. You do get a tiny bit of sink when you bring them up but only momentary. The plane won't realy accelerate to cruise speed until you bring them up.

The DA40 is a great XC machine and is faster then a Cessna 172 and many other entry level singles. Why would they not put the latest avionics suite designed for singles in the plane. I fly a G1000 equipment DA40 and its the greatest thing ever. Not overkill at all.

I still dont get what Diamond was trying to prove by sticking G1000's in something like the DA-40. To me, thats like pimping out the deck of an ultralight.

The flaps were at T/O setting up to about 2000ft then retracted.I thought the DA40 i flew was the only one with a faulty stall warner.. seems not! Love this plane though, a dream to fly.
