1. No, I'm not a lemming.2. Interesting question. To me, what's truly awful about the solo is that it's an improper fit. There are certain contexts in which this solo would not only be appropriate, but perhaps even pleasing. This isn't one of them. That's an opinion and a matter of taste. Take it (or leave it) for what it is.3. No, I haven't posted any videos of myself playing, and as far as I can tell neither have you. 4. None of this matters. Jazz is dead.

Just what is so 'truly awful' about the solo, camtra1, or are you just another lemming who says what every other hack here on youtube says. But again, what is so awful? Because I don't think you know what in the hell you are talking about...Yeah, Herb Ellis, coulda' had about any bass player he wanted, but decided to continually choose a 'truly awful' guy to play with...that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Another big talker who doesn't dare show his own chops on this here youtube. Typical

Great performances by both musicians! I especially enjoyed Dave Maslow's bass work, which is first rate. I was a bass student of Dave's back in the late 1970's. In those times he was the best bassist in Minnesota. I wonder where he is now?

I have a feeling that you're just one of those people who think they can play guitar because they listen to some blues players and Phish and automatically think that they can make music by raping the blues scale. You need to get yourself some brains. Or at least an ear canal. And JosephK1980, you sort of disapointed me when you tell me that you understand my points and about me trying to defend my viewpoint.
