The kids are not learning "Kung-fu" since true Kung-fu would not use belts either. That's some type of karate as wutang said.

The children in the clip are doing the Ba Forms of Tang Shao Tao. Hung Lao Shi created these forms as a mix of Shao Lin, Ba Gua and Xing Yi to teach beginners students with no experience the basic concepts of martial arts... Stance work, striking, blocking, kicking.

As for the uniforms, the story i was told was that Hung Lao Shi went to Japan and liked the state of Karate, how organized it was, etc. Also, many of his students were US military and associated belts and uniforms with martial arts, which was not common in kung fu.

I still can't believe they look like karateka :) I really think they did it, because at the time thats what was stereotype and widely accepted (karate). Is it? Or is that how they REALLY trained? I don't know of any Taiji/hsingi/bagua masters who wore that sort of attire, only shuai jou.
