I was whistling this tune on a London train, when a passenger asked me how I knew this "Connie Boswell" song. I said It was a favourite Annette Hanson rendition. He was even more astonished that I knew of her!He had been a professional clarinetist who was now busking in London, and said this would be a number he would playing that day.He held Annette in the highest regard and regaled me with memories of her. what a pleasant journey this turned out to be!Thank you for your postings.

You chaps who put all this almost forgotten but,nevertheless outstanding music by the great artistes,male and female,have indeed done us all an enormous favour.This was real entertainment not some wheeze dreamed up to part people from their money.These artistes offered authentic talent and charm.We are all in their debt.And I am to all contributors.

Thanks so much. You couldn't have put it better. Her mastery made it all sound effortless - which of course is just a false impression. It is said she was such an unassuming person she unjustifiedly minimized her performances' importance.

kspm You have hit it on the spot.She sang with an incomparable elegance and such inimitable ease.One could easily be lulled into thinking that this sort of singing,soo relaxed and restrained is effortless;it requires absolute mastery of the vocal chords and enormous talent. That I never had the privilege to hear her in the flesh-my life is one great regret. Sublime!!

She is absolutely incredible. Wow, was she ahead of her time. Of course, these songs are musical gems, but even so. I never thought I'd like tiptoe through the tulips but it was fantastic. I am addicted

I keep returning to this posting. I think that I am becoming addicted to Annette Hanshaw singing this song. She really was superb.
