Sookchai,i don't know if you are lao in blood or not,if you are what do you think your ancester would call you :a traitor,a person that sale your motherland, and you don't know, how lao people felt that time, and you not in their shoes, they used to go visit eachother both sides of the mekong river as one land without passport now they act like two different countris and first of all two different nationalities

Sorry.."internationally educated" and I mean in Western countries like US..heck..any country that is a democracy!

Unless the Lao government brings in younger, internally educated Laotians, change the old way of thinking, change or relax current laws..STOP THE CORRUPTION...the country will never mover forward or make any progress to a free democratic society!I went to visit Laos in May 07' for the first time in 30 years. I visited Luang Prabang, met a "provincial tax collector." He was driving a new Toyota Vigo, was building a BIG NEW HOUSE. Sadly, I don't think he was making over $100 a month.

I'm a Savannakhet born and left at age 4yrs. old. It's really nice to see new development. People of Laos really want to see growth. I'm just glad to see that progress. I can't wait to go visit again...Lao People, keep up the good work and dream big!
