Vilayanur Ramachandran: A journey to the center of your min
http://www.ted.com - In a wide-ranging talk, Vilayanur Ramachandran explores how brain damage can reveal the connection between the internal structures of the brain and the corresponding functions of the mind. He talks about phantom limb pain, synesthesia (when people hear color or smell sounds), and the Capgras delusion, when brain-damaged people believe their closest friends and family have been replaced with imposters.

I think I remember this fellow from a show on the Science Channel. He's just as smart here as he was on that show.

This is pure genius. I remember him coming to our college (He's from the same Indian city as me) and I remember the entire audience leaving the hall in a complete daze. Brilliant stuff!!

I think Ramachandran is doing a great service here - not many people could express neurological/psychological ideas in a way that is so comprehensive to the layperson, or as engaging. People with no former knowledge can listen to him and learn without growing bored. We need more people like that to talk to teenagers deciding on career paths etc.

Ramachandran was denied the job of Department Chair in Psychology @ Harvard, for good reason!Smart, but definitely overrated!

freudian theory is completely projectionism. he mistakes his own emotional state as basic state of ALL humans. very basic, very flawed logic.
