This is Virginian songwriter Devon Sproule and her husband Paul Curreri performing "Stop By Anytime" on Later With Jools Holland. A very simple yet powerful love song from her new "Keep Your Silver Shined" CD. I work nights in a television studio and used to come home in the morning to find absolutely nothing interesting to watch on television. The last thing I wanted to see was more commercials. And I'm not really interested in watching talk shows and soap operas.Then I discovered the commercial free music channel RAVE. HD quality video and pretty much perfect 5.1 sound. A few times a week they run "Later With Jools Holland" in the morning. Jools has great taste in music and each show runs the gamut from pop, rock, folk, Celtic, African, to Joanna Newsome. Something for everyone. This performance feels so delicate, maybe it was the throat infection, but either way, it's a real treat to hear it sung with such softness (albeit raw softness). And Paul's great accompanying with the same attention to subtle delicacy. Beautiful, it truly is. Just gotta love these two.

i really can't get over these jools holland vids, i think as ds noted sublime is about as close as i can come, i know its annoying when people get too reflective with comments but wow, this really is special stuff, i remember feeling this way after hearing slowdive a long time back for the first time, good to feel it again though, a bit beyond explanation maybe, thanks for the post

after seeing this I bought all her CD's. Truely amazing. Does anyone have a good version of ol vergina block on Jools Holland. Mine had a cut in the middle.

I've heard quite a few versions of this song, but this is the version that inspired me to learn the song and put my own inferior version on youtube.Devon had problems with a throat infection just before this take, if anything I think it added to the delicate feel of the song.Excellent accompaniment from Paul too.It's a beautiful song and I think this is the perfect version of it.
