To me its about looking closer at things you think you know well and seeing more than you expect . Each time the shot gets closer to the inside of the apple there are more points to the star .Every part of this song and video will likely mean something different to each person and none of us will be any closer to wrong or right than anyone else .

I think you're close with the idea of genetics but off the mark with the idea of "aliens" specifically. It seems more like "god" as a highly evolved being in his workshop, experimenting with various forms of life, symbolized by the little friend he seems to have created to keep him company in his strange lab and by the embryo (raspberry thing) which went out of control and killed it. You can see the guy remembering he is "god" at the end. But of course, wide open to interpretation.

i think the rasberry thing thats following him is a physical-metaphor for genetics. how our dna is related to the "aliens". this band must believe in that stuff. just my interpretation. if youve watched the schism vid. its the same. just trying to crack the dna code between different beings.
