Tommbil, thanks, I thought I had heard something like that. Have you ever checked out "Live", old album with Don Thompson on bass. my favorite JH album. tho I just picked up an unknown double album with Ron Carter, live at Village West. nice

Dear bdcruzer about the guitar Jim Hall was using during his performance here I am with all the info. Actually the Gibson es-175 he was playing was not his old one but the one he was lent by Mr Giovanni Monteforte (an Italian Guitar player from Milan). On that night Jim explained his guitar was stilla t the airport coming from I don't remember where...That's why the guitar's colour seems so light. Bye

Been a J Hall fan for 30yrs and he is still the best. not a fan of his newish effects interest tho. anybody know what guitar he is playing here? not his usual fare but could be his old es175 tho it does not look dark enough... borrowed?

i think my two favorites are duo settings-with bill evans in "undercurrent" and ron carter in "alone together" jim hall`s uncanny sensitivity and keen listening powers give those two recordings an almost telepathic power. an immensely influential guitarist...

No, those are octaves. Not fifths.

Jim is using the Digitech Whammy pedal set to playing a 5th above of whatever note he plays. Not an octave.

Jim is using an octaver effect to simulate the steel drum sound. I saw he uses a Digitech Whammy pedal in his instruction video. Doubling the note he played with an octave or even 2 octave above, it sounds very similar to the steel drum.
