Barbara Dennerlein & Rhoda Scott on Hammond B3 Organ
Can you handle this much organ? We are used to guitarists like Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, or Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes mixing it up, but Rhoda Scott and Barbara Dennerlein prove that instrumental music isn't just a man's world. This impromptu performance took place in Switzerland in 2002 at the Bern Jazz Festival, bringing together two legends of the Hammond B3 Organ - the 5 time Downbeat Critics Poll Winner Barbara Dennerlein and the great Soul Jazz artist Rhoda Scott, a.k.a. "Barefoot Lady" - called a very great virtuoso by Arthur Rubinstein. For Dennerlein fans this is a bit unusual, because Barbara isn't playing pedal bass. This number "Nova" was composed by Rhoda, an accomplished pedal bass player herself, so she provides the bass lines. Not only are they smoking hot soloists, but check out the great interplay, harmonics, and accompaniment.

What I find amazing is how well they blend together and are really able to do a true musical dialogue that we have been so blessed and privilged to listen to and observe! Awesome!

Here goes my old phrase again: we germans don't have rhythm? Reply: maybe most of us don't (it's just enough for House and Schunkel) but some of us do. I am talking the real stuff. The "problem" with Barbara is that she is a virtuoso organist, a very sweet, to the point of modest, person (I have interwievs with her on DVD) and yet a hot woman.... but that we all know that.

oh yea dont ever go by urself to buy a hammond cuz the dealer may try to trick u into buying the new hammond 926 or new b3 or bx-3 which aint worth nu10 compare to the real thing. they tell u they dont make parts for the old ones anymore and they cant be refurbished and no one repairs them anymore which is completely not true. i seen on deal even jack up the price on a old b-3 just so he could sell u a new one.

Good catch, I mentioned this in the intro, this is Rhoda's composition, so naturally she took the bass.
