Jamaican? I assume you're referring to the gentleman with the dreads? That's Roy Hargrove. Roy is from Dallas not Jamaica.

Hey musicmenace78 your not going to get a new Monette for even $6,000, they cost around $8,000 in raw brass, $9,500+ for the gold plated. The horn Terence is playing cost MUCH more than the Prana 3 used by Wynton, Terence is playing a Raja Samadhi with an integrated mouthpiece. Many find it difficult to play in sections with horns such as Monette's because they produce such a different tone.

Oh yeah i totally agree about the tone of a trumpet and finding the ONE for you. I just figured that if you can afford to pay $6,000 for a monette, you must be good (only for the Pros) I,ve been on the band stand and done gigs and I've never seen a dude pull out a monette. Only the pros like Wynton and Terence. But can't you find a good horn for around $2,000 or less? The best Flugal horn I've played was a Cheap $900 JUPITER (I KNOW THEY MAKE SOME CRAPPY HORNS)

Monette. The cheapest one is more than $4,000. And, $4,000 is not horribly expensive for a trumpet. Most if not all Taylor trumpets are more than that also. But to answer your questions... Monette's are not only for pro's. They have a very desirable tone. So, they are for anyone who likes the tone. The best way to buy a trumpet is to not look at the price until you have picked the one that has the best tone based on YOUR ears.
