if he achieved what he wanted he wouldnt have diedalthough not that i believe for one second that that was the main objective of the strike

He achieved alot of peoples respect and thats all he wanted...

i have to disagree there, after the hunger strike the numbers of deaths on both sized increased hugely. more and more civilians joined paramilitaries after the strike. after he died, in May, huge riots broke out in nationalist areasfair enough taking your own life, but when you know that its going to cause more deaths of innocent people, it shouldnt have been done.Tell me, what did he achieve?

i didnt say i didi wanted to know your a opinion on the matteryou dont need to worry about that, i know my stuff - i wouldn't say anything if i didnttrust me, im not about to starve myself for no reason!

If ya wana debate with me go right ahead. Don't worry I'm not one to mouth off on something I don't know anything about cos I think thats just stupid. Don't go into a battle unless you can fully well fight your corner. And I'm not sayin go on and starve yourself to get your point across but it was there methods of gettin there point across to stand up for their beliefs and in fairness it was a peacefuland voluntry protest.Bobby just started it and the others followed.

What?!hahahaha "what have you done lately"jeeze im sorry i didnt realise i'd have to go on a hunger strike for nothing in order to get some respect around herei dont have much against the men personally, they stood for what they believed in and had an amazing amount of willpower. That I respectim just saying they were active memebers in the IRA, they were criminalsi dont mean to sound arrogant but i do know a lot about this

have you all of a sudden got civilised? Please don't preach to me when you have no idea what your arguing about, there is no arguement here bobby sands was a legend he took risks, took a chance and took his life standing up for the irish prisoners and people.. So what have you done lately????

because he was on hunger strike so that the prisoners would be classed as prisoners of war and not as common criminals - i.e. able to wear their own clothes etc - this was never granted - even the americans were on our side when they saw all the media footage of this
