I'm playing the tuba solo as an audition excerpt for West Australian Youth Orchestra.

LOVE this movement. Especially the begining. So dark.

My favourite movement. I especially love the violins, as I play the 2nd violins part of this symphony in my youth orchestra.

When I hear the this I picture a procession of mourneres walking through a town and as the orchestra grows, the so does the procession;and finally at 2:45 ish, they reach the grave yard with the sounding of the oboes.

By the way, I'd like to apologize for the sharp remark I made in my very first post. I re-read it and could not believe it came from me.My apologies. I'll try to remember that music is also about interpretation next time.

With that, you've sealed your fate.To you, it's obviously about knowledge or credibility in one particular faction of the large community called "music." Music is about more than that, to me...and it's what I hope to spread as an educator. However, I know there are some that like to focus on one area, and that's fine. But do not think that because I enjoy choral music, I know nothing of the "orchestral realm." If you try to challenge my passion, I will not hold back.

Well, when referring to the choral music, you make your credibility in the orchestral realm even less. And to be honest, I've heard most of the music, and its not all that fantastic.

That he did, but I'll repeat myself: I was referring to Whitacre's choral music when I made this account.Secondly, I don't think you have the right to say any such statement about Holst or concert band. There are NUMEROUS wind ensemble classics, and if you were to shoot those down, you would be missing some fantastic music. I don't want to argue with you, man. It just rubs me the wrong way that you would say that about any kind of music.
