They stick a thin tube down the nose and down the throat and film. It could be a video stroboscopy where they have a strobe light that words in time with your phonation (voice). At the base of the back of the tongue is the pharynx and below that is the larynx. The vocal folds are in the larynx, just above the wind pipe. The thing you see flapping around sometimes blocking the way is the epiglottis. It covers the windpipe when you swallow
