Roland FP-4 Test Drive

Here is a short demo of the Roland FP-4. The sound is really very nice but gets lost in the YouTube compressors. If you are interested in this keyboard you really need to demo it yourself. I purchased this not to use as a home unit (there are much better digital pianos for that) but rather to use as a gigging keyboard because of its light weight and weighted action. First, I play some simple chording. The second piece uses one of the FP-4 built-in backing tracks. It has 2 variations and I switch to the 2nd variation towards the end. The last piece uses a strings/piano pad.

Its something Stevie Wonder would play, you know those kind of chords..jazz soul. Maybe you might disagree with me but that has a Stevie Wonder feeling..anyways you are amazing.

The advantage of a teacher is that they can correct you immediately (fingersettings, posture), while with any kind of other tutorial you don't know if you're doing it correctly or not. So, I'd recommend to at least invest in a few lessons, then see where you can go yourself.

You can go from the FP-4 into most computer sound cards and use software like Audacity (for PC) to record and burn to CD.

Very expressive playing...wish I could get my fp-4 to sound like that but unfortunately I'll have to do "a whole lot more" practicing! You recorded directly to your computer? Did you have need special software installed and if possible, can you also burn a CD from your computer of what you played? Thanks for any help.

Had this keyboard home for testing. The piano is extremly realistic, half-damper works pretty well. Hammonds with Leslie simulator and variable speed rule although I wish for more Hammond sounds. Other sounds are okay, most effects are more a complement than full fledged ones tho guitar amp, chorus, flanger and slicer stood out for me. GM sounds are ... well GM. It's a great digital piano and Hammond organ with a neat bunch of other features which will probably be used only sporadically.
