Professor Stephen Hawking Takes Zero-Gravity Flight
ZERO-G(TM) and its sponsors, Space Florida and The Sharper Image, flew world-renowned physicist and cosmologist Professor Stephen Hawking into weightlessness today, performing eight parabolas, out of the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Central Florida. It was the first time Professor Hawking, the world's leading expert on gravity, had a zero-gravity experience.

Hawking was quoted before the flight saying:"Many people have asked me why I am taking this flight. I am doing it for many reasons. First of all, I believe that life on Earth is at an ever increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster such as sudden nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus, or other dangers. I think the human race has no future if it doesnt go into space. I therefore want to encourage public interest in space."

So being paralysed means you cant feel anything does it? Motor nurone disease is a muscle wasting disease - it doesnt effect his nerve endings!

Go Cyborg! On a serious note though, and not to detract from the man's achievements, I recently read that within the field of theoretical physics, Hawkings is not treated with nearly the same degree of reverence as the general public seem to bestow on him (the majority of which not knowing diddly about Physics and maths).
