It is interesting that a lot of Japanese culture was studied intensely by fascinated westerners, it is these oktaku that now hold the hope of keeping parts of Japanese culture alive. For example although monks are still interested in Zen ideals, one of the top Zen designers in Japan is actually French. Also not many of the young generation are interested in Wabi Sabi philosophy, but because westerners became fascinated with it, the idea's behind Wabi Sabi will survive. Culture goes full circle.

Well there are plenty of Japanese culture still here in Japan. But we've adapted more to western culture because it's easier. I mean we really don't want to go around making wars and killing everyone with swords again just for a wee bit of money. Even though most of Japan is very westernised in the city, the people themselfs still have lots of rich culture in them and practice them everyday. ^.^
