She did some jail time for drug possession and "Open Your Eyes-You Can Fly" was her liberation song. I just dig her whole set. She's a survivor, an artist, and just soooo sexy . I did have the privilege of seeing her and her husband Airto here in Philly at Univ of Penn and they gave a tremendous show. They were so intimate with the audience. Airto is a genius!

If allowed to, I'm sure the feedback will be high. To touch on just one aspect, I've lost count of the number of times the opening bassline ( Alfonso Johnson ) has been sampled, in music, TV promotions, etc.( Lizz Wright's full offering is really good, and all be it different, some lovely basswork.)Congats on all of your postings to date.

I love this album - particularly the classic 'Vera cruz'. 'Stories to Tell' is thankfully available on CD. I eagerly scan hoping someone will post 'Open your eyes - you can fly'. These musicians really were 'magicians'..
