I don't see the reason to think you're not safe here, I've been to Slovenia and it was great, no hostility whatsoever I thought it was vice versa. It's not like you're a Croatian :D And I'm not saying that hostility is OK either. Many aggressive ppl with lots of time on their hands often spell disaster. I'm afraid to go there so there you have it... I wonder if it will ever go away.Plus I don't know why would anyone be offended by your comment, we Serbs have idiots on our auditions too... :D
