Rushing? Hardly. They knew that there would be a second and third installment to the series before ME was even released. Most likely that work had already begun on no.2 and no.3 at an earlier stage than 08...

if i think back on SWKotoR...as i remember the first game came in 2004 and the sequel in 2005...both games seemed really awsome to me. So i don't really see any problems!

No. It will be made every 4 years. Just like what Bungie did with Halo 1 to Halo 3. Think about it... Mass Effect 2 2011, Mass Effect 3 2015... I know, that is a long time, but you want a game that's worth it, right? And be realistic about it.
